2009 Cleveland Martial Arts Championship (PKC) - October 2009

2009 AKA Grand Nationals

Team KIXXX Competitive Demo Team and members of the expanded Team KIXXX (“The Next Generation”) had a very strong showing in Louisville, KY, at the AKA Grand Nationals this June.  The competitive demo team pleased the crowd with a high energy, show stopping, hard hitting display of martial arts and acrobatics. The team took its highest honor to date as a competitive demo team placing third overall. In addition, we had 22 team members competing in individual events. As a reward for hours of focus, practice and perseverance, many team members took home trophies.  We even had a few first place highlights; Tyler Powell, traditional forms; Ali Stitts, creative forms; Kelly Cunningham, team synchronized forms and Adam Stobinski, traditional forms, weapons, team synchronized forms. In all, members of Team KIXXX took home a total of 33 individual trophies and 2 team trophies. Congratulations to all competitors.  For more pictures, click here.

30th Anniversary T-shirt Design Contest

As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary of the school, here are some designs submitted by our students for our "official 2009" T-shirts.  Other designs will be used for various promotional material.

Karate Institute Demo at the 2009 KidShow

The Karate Institute once again featured their energetic Demo Team at the 2009 KidShow at Great Lakes Mall. Welcoming many new members, this year’s Demo team is the largest in many years. From the nervous parents to the excited team members the hard work of each member was seen in their dynamic, non-stop displays of weapons, forms, and self-defense. The new “Executive” group was impressive, and the Little Dragons even joined in on self-defense and board breaking this year. The high-energy creative portions of the show built up the excitement of the crowd, leading into the thrilling finale by team KIXXX. Many mall goers who watched the shows on Saturday or Sunday stopped by the booth to gather information and/or sign up for a free class. The KI booth, featuring face painting and our impressive tori gate covered with photos, won 3rd place this year for Creativity of Display. A special thanks goes out to all the families who support the Demo Team year-round by bringing the team members to the many practices and shows. To see the team is action, click here.
